Boost Your Substack SEO Visibility by Sharing Links
Mutual link sharing can enhance your Substack's reach and engagement.
Do you write on Substack with SEO tips in mind? Sometimes, I’ll take the time to make my post SEO-rich, and sometimes I just don’t wanna. lol
Why SEO Matters for Substack
I know my way around SEO enough to get by, but I'm no expert. I’ve been writing mostly on WordPress websites for about eight years. I had a good mentor once who showed me the ropes, and it stuck. Of course, I read up on it from time to time too.
A post from
written in 2023 says, “The best way to improve your SEO ranking is to get more inbound links to your Substack publication. An inbound link is a link on another site that directs readers to your Substack.”Link Sharing for Better SEO
Maybe we can all come together and set up a little bartering system: you post my link, I'll post yours. This way, we can help each other with link-building strategies and improve our Substack rankings. Here are some ideas for effective link sharing:
Link Tools: Add each other’s Substack links to your Linktr.ee, Beacons, or “Link in Bio” tools. This way, your readers can easily discover and follow new content.
Personal Websites: Feature links to fellow writers’ Substacks in your blog posts or resource pages. This cross-promotion can drive traffic.
Social Media: Share each other’s Substack links on social media profiles. Tagging relevant content or mentioning it in posts can increase visibility. Consider Facebook groups, Twitter or X, Threads, Instagram, TikTok, and any other social media platform for additional exposure.
Online Communities and Forums: Engage in relevant online communities and forums, such as Reddit, Alignable, Discord, Digital Point Forums, Warrior Forum, or niche-specific forums. Sharing useful Substack links in these spaces can help build relationships and direct traffic.
Email Lists: Collaborate with others who use email marketing platforms like ConvertKit, Mailchimp, or AWeber. You can feature each other’s Substack links in your newsletters to reach new audiences.
YouTube and Podcasts: Mention and link to each other’s Substacks in YouTube videos or podcast episodes. This can introduce your content to viewers and listeners interested in similar topics.
eBooks: If you or others create eBooks, include links to each other’s Substacks in your resources or reference sections. This can help drive traffic and offer additional value to your readers.
Content Platforms: Share Substack links on Medium, Elephant Journal, HubPages, Vocal Media, Quora Spaces, and/or Tumblr. These platforms have large audiences that might be interested in your fellow Substack artists content.

What am I forgetting?
Anyway. I’m sure this is done between mutuals or in private groups of similar niches, and I’m just not aware of it. Of course, it would be in your readers' best interest if it stayed within your niche. However, sometimes those in our niche also have other interests. You never know.
It’s all about building a community.
Are you up for sharing links? Let’s collaborate and make our Substacks shine!
I have been trying to do this from my end. I would LOVE to trade links with folks. 💚
