Hi, I’m Lori K. The L of the JEL. JEL-Collaborative is a community publication offering sporadic experiences with how we are learning SubStack together, as we go.
Getting started with something so new as collaborating with others can be daunting. No idea how this will go, but am super hopeful as we seem to have the same intentions and similar backgrounds.
Jumping in head first before knowing all the nuts and bolts is how I like to roll. Just start. Just do it as Nike claims. I know the basics and that’s what matters, really. The rest will come. I have faith.
Slowly but surely, I’ve figured some things out on Substack that have been helpful. Luckily Elsie (the E of the JEL-Collaborative) was around to take some photos in the beginning to assure me what it looks like to others. She’s a hoot and a helpful handful. lol
So happy to have met Jodi (the J of the JEL-Collaborative) through Elsie. She’s a marvelous mentor!
As for me, the L of the JEL… I’m your favorite GenX ginger hermit with CPTSD. Reflecting on life with humor. Offering sporadic unconventional lifestyle publications. I enjoy creating tasty food, sharing stories, introspection, a good belly laugh, and experimenting with Human Design. I don’t take things personally and am a solo menopausal mom to a 14-year old that took 11 years to conceive.

The thing that I’m learning this last week is that although I love the Substack community and the rabbit holes I find myself in, the amount of reading takes over the capability of commenting on a lot of posts. This will definitely be the slowest growing social media that I’ve ever had the pleasure of exploring! And that’s okay, it’s how we build genuine communities.
What’s something you’ve learned about Substack that would be helpful for us newbies?

You two are so fun! Yippeeeee!
That's what we're all looking for isn't it? Genuine community.
Love your talent for alliteration, too. A "helpful handful", - love it! - I'll have to remember that for my next teaching evaluation.
